Margaret + Chris

Unique Nuptials in Denver

A wedding rich in personal touches

Margaret and Chris’s path to a Hotel Born wedding started with frequent visits to one of their favorite restaurants – our on-property restaurant Citizen Rail. In fact, it’s where they celebrated after getting engaged. Not wanting a “typical hotel wedding,” what cemented Hotel Born as the perfect place was the twosome’s immediate connection to the look and feel of the hotel, from the lobby to the event spaces. Oh, and most importantly, that Born would welcome an unconventional ring bearer—their French bulldog Babar.

In partnership with their beloved (and extremely game) onsite coordinator Brittney, the couple were able to create a unique and personal celestial-themed wedding with a series of clever nods to sci-fi and fantasy. The ceremony took place in the Après Foyer outside the Aspen Ballroom , with vows in front of a custom arch made by a groomsman and decorated by their florist, Plum Sage. The reception was catered by the team at Citizen Rail and DJ Ian Mahan brought everyone to their feet on the dance floor. Many of the homemade touches, from the stationary to the table numbers to the favors and beyond were crafted by the bride herself. “Not only did the hotel go along with so much customization, it was encouraged!” the couple told us.

Memorable Details

The bride and groom’s first look took place on the Born’s picturesque staircase landing followed by a look at the wedding space. Their take? “It was incredible to see our vision come to life!” Next came the family & wedding party pics in front of the custom “Here/There” wall.

The kindness and enthusiasm of everyone at the Hotel Born has stuck with us after our wedding day. The rooms are beautiful, the food is wonderful, and the service is amazing. We often go into the Born after drinks at Citizen Rail to remember our day, and we smile every time.

Every single person at the wedding remarked on how beautiful the Born is and how smoothly things went—we couldn’t agree more! Our wedding truly felt like “us.”

Fans of the classic whiskey-based Ward 8 cocktail, the couple worked with a bartender from Citizen Rail to customize the recipe in order to have a signature cocktail for the occasion. In keeping with their self-described “nerdy” theme, they dubbed it the Warp 8. Suffice to say, it was a hit among the guests.

At the end of the big day, the newlyweds were welcomed back to the Centennial Suite with a selection of their favorite snacks and a whiskey flight customized with superhero decorations by the staff. A happy detail that brought smiles to their faces. On the nightstand was a rose gold and glass box customized with their initials containing the first cork from their champagne toast. “This detail was so personalized and lovely, and we will treasure it forever.”
