Downtown Denver Wedding Weekend Activities

Maximize your Denver moments between wedding events

When you welcome your guests to Kimpton Hotel Born for your wedding weekend, you're welcoming them to Denver's oldest neighborhood, affectionately known as LoDo, or Lower Downtown. We place you and your loved ones at the very heart of this vibrant hotspot — where art, culture, hip microbreweries and award-winning restaurants converge. Your friends and family will be spoiled for choices when filling their downtime, whether that's a couple of hours between events, or a full day for adventuring.

Union Station Denver

A Couple Hours

Not only is Union Station Denver's transportation hub (connecting Denver International Airport and the city with eco-friendly rail and bus options, plus Amtrak service to destinations further afield)—it's also billed as "Denver's Living Room" — a thriving destination for dining and shopping. Browse an eclectic mix of curated local goods, break for locally roasted organic coffee or a great meal. Cuisine ranges from Iberian tapas to fresh (flown in daily) seafood to seasonal dishes from a James Beard Award-winner. Don't miss the Farmer's Market held on summer Saturdays.

Denver brews more beer than any other American city, and is home to a wealth of microbreweries. A short walk from our front door will take you to Colorado's first brewpub, Wynkoop Brewing Company, pouring more than 40 different styles of beer, from traditional to experimental. We also appreciate the Denver Beer Co.'s industrial taproom, German-style beer garden and small-batch, artisanal brews. Serious about exploring all your options? Check out this Denver Beer Trail Map.

Denver Art Museum

Half a Day

If you have the time, we have the perfect place to wander. As Denver's birthplace, LoDo blends urban revival with historical charm: our buildings are a playful combination of renovated warehouses and brand-new constructions. Browse art galleries and boutique shops. Duck into one of the many beloved Denver restaurants. Grab a beer or sip a cocktail. This hot neighborhood has heaps of discoveries waiting for you.

Art aficionados will find inspiration to spare in Denver, including the sprawling collections of the Denver Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the stunning works of American Expressionism at the Clyfford Still Museum. Or explore prolific Denver Street Art — murals, graffiti and more on display from alleyways to warehouses to sidewalks.

Take in a game at the 76-acre Coors Field, where you can root for Denver's own MLB team, the Colorado Rockies. Toast the team on the newly added two-level Rooftop featuring amazing views.

Colorado Skiing

Full Day

Fun for the whole family, the Denver Zoo is home to everything from Siberian tigers to Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. Take your experience a little more up-close-and-personal with an Animal Encounter: feed the giraffes, or have a meet-and-greet with "Wookiee" the two-toed sloth. You're sure to leave with some extra-special selfies.

The Denver Aquarium will dazzle you with more than a million gallons of underwater fun. Explore habitats as diverse as the rainforest, the desert, a shipwreck, and a coral reef (among others) as you watch adorable otters playing and powerful sharks gliding through clear waters.

Feel like a road trip? We recommend jaunts to renowned ski town Vail (98 miles), artsy college town Boulder (27 miles) or Estes Park (63 miles), gateway to the pristine beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park.
